Whisper delivers information, right to your phone, exactly when you need it.

Indoors. Or out.

Even when there is no network.

How does it work?

Whisper combines the use of GPS and Bluetooth beacon technologies to automatically deliver information to your phone specifically about your location.

In a museum or gallery – Bluetooth beacons trigger the display of information, history and background about the exhibit you are looking at.

In a garden – GPS location triggers the display of information about the history, planting, wildlife programmes, specific specimens and must-see areas.

In a historical building – Bluetooth beacons trigger your phone to tell you about the room, it’s history and people and specific aspects that deserve a closer look.

Information is automatically downloaded to phones as the visitor approaches the location, to ensure that all of this information is available even where there is no mobile phone or WiFi network available.

The visitor doesn’t need to do anything.
It just works.

WHAT INFORMATION CAN I SHARE WITH MY VISITORS?

You can provide information to your visitors via easy-to-create web pages, images, videos and audio clips.

Whisper includes the ability to quickly create information-rich web pages from simple text files, and to make those pages available to visitors even where there is no network available.

Anyone in your organisation can be given access to maintain just the pieces of information they are responsible for – from central management right down to individual location or section-level access.

OTHER LANGUAGES

Whisper automatically works out the preferred language of your visitor. It will show or play the content in that language if you have made it available, or in your selected default language if it is not. This includes audio guides – the appropriate soundtrack will be selected based on the visitor’s own language.

Don’t worry if you don’t know which languages to offer. Whisper automatically tracks the preferred language of each of your visitors and you can view this information to decide which ones are the most common.

PRIVACY

When an information notification is shown to the user, they have the option to say that they don’t want to hear anything further.

Whisper does not require, or even offer, a user login. No personal or private information about the user is stored by Whisper.

All captured data (such as visitor numbers and preferred languages) is recorded completely anonymously.

VISITOR STATISTICS

Whisper can anonymously track the movements and linger time of visitors. This data can be used to assess the most popular areas and exhibits. Overall visitor numbers can also be automatically recorded.

How much does it cost?

The team here at Whisper want to support not-for-profit organisations (NFPOs) as much as possible.

Note the following:

  • Where Whisper is provided free of charge or at a reduced rate to an NFPO, Whisper may be used only to provide information to visitors and users of sites operated directly by that NFPO.
  • The NFPO license does not cover use by any profit-generating businesses even when they are members or associates of the NFPO.
  • Whisper sites set up by an NFPO are periodically reviewed by Whisper Holdings Ltd to ensure that Whisper is made available within directly operated NFPO sites only.
